Week Commencing – 11th February

This week:

  • In Maths we have been working on short division, dividing four digits by 1. We have started to look at long division.
  • In English we have been writing a biography of the Anglo-Saxon person that was researched for homework.
  • In Topic, we have been researching how the Anglo-Saxon period ended and the Norman period began.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 4th February

This week:

  • In Maths we have been continuing with long multiplication, by expanding this to multiplying 4 digits by 2 digits.
  • In English we have been writing a shared biography of Alfred the Great, combining literacy skills with our Anglo-Saxon topic.
  • In RE we have been exploring the Sikh Gurdwaras and how the Sikh community worship.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 21st January

This week:

  • In Maths we have been finishing area and perimeter and we have started learning our new unit of multiplication and division.
  • In English we have been learning about the differences between autobiographies and biographies.
  • In Art we have made Anglo Saxon pots out of clay, which we will be painting in authentic colours.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 14th January

This week:

  • In Maths we have been learning to measure area and perimeter.
  • In English we have been planning and writing our own stories based on an advert.
  • In RE we have been learning about communities and places which are special in communities.

Week Commencing – 7th January

This week:

  • In Maths we have finished multiplication and division and moved on to a unit about area and perimeter.
  • In English we have been creating characters to write a story with.
  • In Topic we have begun learning about our new topic – Anglo Saxons “Invaders and Settlers”.

Week Commencing – 10th December

This week:

  • In Maths we have been learning to use and recognise cube numbers, the inverse of multiplying and dividing and multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 10,000.
  • In English we have begun our new topic on a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. We have been reading the story and learning about the characters.
  • In RE we have been evaluating our learning about Mary and whether the Christmas narrative needs her.

Week Commencing – 3rd December

This week:

  • In Maths we have been learning to use and recognise square and cube numbers.
  • In English we have been writing instructions to create a Victorian toy as well as making it.
  • In Topic we have been learning about the Penny Black stamp and the man who created it.

Week Commencing – 26th November

This week:

  • In Maths we have been learning to use and recognise factors and prime numbers.
  • In English we have been writing instructions to create a festive gift.
  • In Topic we have been on an amazing trip to understand what life was like as a Victorian.

Week Commencing – 19th November

This week:

  • In Maths we have been learning to use and recognise multiples and factors.
  • In English we have begun learning about the different features of instructions with a focus on adverbs and imperative verbs.
  • In RE we have been considering the role of Mary in the Nativity story and the Bible.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 12th November

This week:

  • In Maths we have completed our learning on statistics and will be moving on to multiplication and division.
  • In English we have planned and written our own non-chronological report about the famous Victorian we researched over the half term break.
  • In Topic we have compared the lives of poor and rich Victorian children.

  • In Maths we have been creating line graphs and interpreting data.
  • In English we have planned and written a class non-chronological report on Dr Barnardo.
  • In Art we are looking at different methods of sketching as well as the effects of light and shadow.
