Week Commencing – 9th March

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been learning how to subtract a proper fraction from and mixed fraction and how to subtract two mixed fractions.
  • In English, we have begun planning and writing our own Viking play scripts independently.
  • In DT we have begun making a floating Viking long ship from different materials, in order to make it waterproof.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 2nd March

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators, adding and subtracting more than 2 fractions and adding and subtracting fractions that come to a total greater than 1.
  • In English, we have written Viking play scripts in groups and have started to write our own independent play scripts.
  • In Topic we are using our geographical skills to identify rivers and estuaries where the Vikings launched attack in Great Britain.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 24th February

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators.
  • In English, we have performed plays based on the Viking Sagas and have started to write our own play scripts.
  • In R.E we are exploring the question of whether the death of Jesus was a worthwhile sacrifice.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 10th February

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been comparing and ordering fractions less than and greater than 1.
  • In English, we have written the first draft of our historical stories and we have begun to edit and improve them.
  • In Computing we have been using Scratch to gain skills in coding – we have been using coding to solve puzzles.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their Maths work.

Week Commencing – 3rd February

This week:

  • In Maths, we have begun fractions by looking at equivalent fractions and converting improper fractions to mixed numbers.
  • In English, we have planned our historical stories and have completed the introduction, build up and dilemma sections of the story.
  • In Topic we have researched Viking Gods and have made Powerpoint presentations to show our findings.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 27th January

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been dividing 4 digits by a single digit with no remainders and with remainders.
  • In English, we have written our informal letters in neat using cursive joined up handwriting and have been looking at using relative clauses in grammar.
  • In Science, we have been learning about complete and incomplete metamorphoses. If you would like to, you could research more examples of metamorphoses at home.
