Week Commencing – 20th January

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been multiplying 3 and 4 digit numbers by 2 digits.
  • In English, we have been learning about informal letters and have written our own letters based on our text Viking Boy.
  • In Topic, we have been learning about Viking Gods and Norse mythology.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 13th January

This week:

  • In Maths, we have begun our new unit of multiplication, where we have started multiplying 4 digits by a single digit.
  • In English, we have been creating Viking villains and looking at how to create an effective setting.
  • In R.E we have been learning about the features of mosques.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 6th January

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been calculating the area of rectangles and rectilinear shapes.
  • In English, we have begun reading our new text “Viking Boy” by Tony Bradman. We have looked at making predictions and the setting of the story.
  • In Topic, we have begun learning about the Vikings by looking at where they came from and where they invaded.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 9th December

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.
  • In English, we have been listening to an audio version of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and have been working on character descriptions.
  • In PSHE, we have been looking at what makes a good friend.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their Maths work.

Week Commencing – 2nd December

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been looking at square numbers and cube numbers.
  • In English, we have been editing and improving our instructions for our Andersen Shelter models.
  • In DT, we have been making Andersen Shelter models using the instructions we have written in English lessons.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12, please could they practise them as it will support them in their Maths work.

Week Commencing – 25th November

This week:

  • In Maths, we have been looking at factors and multiples.
  • In English, we have been planning how to make a model Andersen Shelter and write instructions for this.
  • In PSHE, we have been looking at what makes us amazing and how we can use this to build our self-esteem and confidence.

Also if your child does not have a good knowledge of their times tables up to 12 please could they practise them as it will support them in their maths work.

Week Commencing – 18th November

This week:

  • In English, we have been learning to identify imperative verbs and features of Instruction writing.
  • In Science, we identified the effect of air resistance on falling objects by making paper spinners.
  • In RE we have been recalling stories where God speaks to people.

If your child would like to continue their learning at home they could look in recipe books and instructions leaflets to identify imperative verbs, and compare the clarity and organisation of the instructions.
